My travel plans in 2018

I am very excited to share with you my travel plans for 2018. Living in China is very interesting and you can earn decent money here but sometimes you feel frustration from different culture aspects and the way people stare at you, so once in a while it’s good to escape for a while.

For this year I’ve planned at least 2 trips: Ukraine and Russia in July for visiting my family and friends, and Philippines or Indonesia in October for surfing.

Ukraine

I’m sure you are aware of the situation between Russia and Ukraine that lasts for quite sometime now, therefore it seems a bit more complicated for Russians to go to Ukraine now. I made a little research to figure out which exactly documents I need to submit when crossing Ukrainian border and it seems pretty doable. I hope it all will go smoothly and I can’t wait to meet my family there!

I might have one or half a day to explore Kiev, cause my plane is going to land in Kiev and after I will get on a train to Nikolaev city. And here’s my must-see list:

  • Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti)
  • Khreshchatyk street – main street of Kiev
  • St. Andrew’s Church, Andriyivskyy Descent and Mikhail Bulgakov Museum
  • get a ride on Kiev Funicular
  • eat delicious food in Puzata Khata cafe

As you probably noticed there are no museums or galleries in my list, hopefully the weather would be nice, so I’d like to spend my time walking and exploring the city. I wish I can meet one of my best friends Yana there too. Fingers crossed!

Russia, Saint-Petersburg

Since year 2000 I used to live in Saint-Petersburg and of course this city means a lot to me. Basically all of my friends and my closest family are still living there. In Saint-Petersburg I fall in love for the first time, I got my first job and eventually the idea of travelling abroad visited me for the first time here too.

Of course my main plan is to spend as much time with my family as I can. In addition would be great to visit such places as:

  • State Hermitage and Russian Museums
  • Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood for Sunday worship and spirituals
  • dinner on Rubinstein street
  • hydrofoil trip to Peterhof Grand Palace
  • Lakhta center (the tallest building in Europe)
  • Krestovsky Island and Stadium

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I will arrive after all the FIFA games will be held in Saint-Petersburg. But it doesn’t make this trip less exciting anyway!

As for Philippines and Indonesia I still need to do a research, after that this post will be updated.
