My favourite books of October, 2018

In this post I will share books that I’ve read and highly recommend if you are like me feeling trapped into social media everyday, spending a lot of time thinking what is your dream job and not really successful in your current job.

1. Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World

We live in such a distracted world. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media are stealing our time. This book is a great find for those who can’t concentrate on something for a long time. The author gives some valuable tips on how to keep your own discipline and set up rules and ritualize your own deep work. If you feel like you are working in a shallows, you are barely getting things done than this book is for you.  By the way one of the advises of Cal Newport is quit social media, which I still haven’t done!

2. So Good They Can’t Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love

Have you ever felt like you are working just for money and you don’t really feel passioned about your job and you are always thinking how to find your dream job and you are never there? Well, then you have to check out this book. The author proves one by one why is better to get more qualified in your current job than thinking about finding a dream job.

3. Hypsoconsciousness: Techniques for Achieving Personal Success

The author of this books claims that most of the people have low level of awareness. To elevate our level of consciousness the author offers various exercises in concentration, breathing, relaxation and development of a “superior I”.

Although I’m not using all of the exercises mentioned in the book, some of them I found quite helpful, like breathing exercises.
